We will look for any signs of illness and ensure that your new pet is in good health. Protocols for vaccinations and ongoing veterinary care will be outlined and discussed.

Fecal exams are performed and your puppy or kitten will be dewormed as needed. It is important to start on heartworm, flea, tick, and internal parasite control between six to eight weeks of age. We will recommend products and give you a free dose at the first visit.

Please be sure to take any medical records you have with you, as well as a recent stool sample. New puppies and kittens can have worms, fleas, and mites, particularly if they came from a shelter environment. To ensure your health and that of your family, you will want to address those issues right away.

We will also discuss timing for spay or neuter surgery, which is also an excellent time to microchip your pet. Microchipping is important to recovering lost pets.
